"Ang Kamisetang Dilaw"
A book review by Mary Angelie Dellosa

Ang Kamisetang Dilaw was written by Genaro R. Gojo Cruz who is born in Balut Tondo, Manila but is now currently living in Pastol, Muzon, San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan. He recieved awards like PBBY-Salanga Writer's Prize andn Romeo Forbes Children's Storywriting Competition. He finished BSE Social Science at Philippine Normal University and is currently teaching at De La Salle University-Manila. This book is his 11th book for children.

First of all, I chose this book because I was attracted by its title and the design it has in the cover. It's colors are attractive and is appropriate for kids. It was the first book that caught my eye when I was looking for a book in which I would be interested in reading. Well, this book did and indeed I was favored by its story.

This is a story of a young boy named Joey. His mother earns profit by washing the laundry of their neighbors. Every time his mother starts to wash, he volunteers to help his mother because he wants to see the yellow shirt with a anime character holding a sword. It's his favorite but his mother always reminds him that it's not his. Joey listens to his mother and he knows what to do. He knows that he should not possess things that is not his.

Joey always knew what is right or wrong even if he's just a kid. His patience and politeness earned something when his friend, Jun-Jun, the owner of the yellow shirt, gave him the shirt. Joey was so happy and at last, the shirt is his. He jumped for joy because he never thought that the shirt will be given to him.

Now, This story tells us that patience is really a virtue. We should not give up in waiting for something we expect. As the saying goes "Everything happens for a reason". Maybe Joey's mother can't afford a shirt like that, but with Joey's patience and politeness, he earned something he really want,

This book is really appropriate for kids because children nowadays are fond of having tantrums when they didn't got what they want. Indeed this story is inspiring.
